What Are The Days?

Anybody who is anybody does not think back to high school and think, "Man. Those were the days. It doesn't get much better than that".

It gets so much better.

One of the only good things about my high school experience was the lack of the moms on Facebook at that time. It was still too advanced for their skills, and poor seniors could bemoan their dull lives and say how much they are ready to be out on their own. Now if some kid writes "T minus 67 days until I'm out of here!", some sort-of-friend's mom responds with "Don't you grow up too fast. You're going to get out into the real world and have responsibility and it won't be nearly as fun. You'll marry the homecoming king from the next town over and be divorced in 10 years You'll look back and these years and wish they didn't go by so fast."

Something their parents never gave them was a sense of adventure. Or responsibility. Or the desire to experience new things. And that is just sad.

I know that I like being busy, learning how to budget, and dreaming about all the things my life is going to be, and none of them include wishing I could turn back time.

I feel like this is a good time to let you all know about something new in my life:
1) I'm changing my major to Retail Management
2) I get to study abroad for 2 weeks at the end of May in Paris, London, Madrid, and Barcelona.

These are the days.

Always,

  3. Totally agree with you about the suckage of high school. Ever since I escaped that beating though, I have lived in the 'these are the days' mind set. The independence of college, the magic that is true love, the first shaky steps as a working 'adult', marrying the only boy in the world who 'gets' you (because he is every bit as strange), the wonder that is becoming a mommy, and the power you feel when you begin making big decisions as a little family about what is best for YOU. I have stood in your shoes, and I can confidently say it just gets better from here. Every time I think, "This is definitely as good as it gets," life twists and I'm proved wrong. And that's the only kind of wrong I'm okay with being;)

  4. I agree high are NOT the days. I'm in it right now and I have nothing to brag about! You are so lucky to study abroad! I'm so happy for you. I'm totally making it a requirement for me in college to do a study abroad.

P.s. my mom has a facebook and she uses hers more than I use mine!

And oh my gosh. Everyone told me at the start of senior year that it would be the best year of my life and secretly I always said to myself, "Shit. I hope not."

    Hahaha:)
    Life is only getting better.

I am sosossosososoosossososososo jealous of your Europing and changing majors. That sounds AMAZING.
