Summer Shows

Along with my summer days, my 2010 summer show had been picked.
In 2008 there was Grey's Anatomy from Netflix.
In 2009 I bought the whole series of Gilmore Girls from Amazon and watched it at my art gallery job.
So 2010 is *drum roll please* Bones.

All of the characters are hilarious and smart. Emily Deschanel (plays Dr. Temperance Brennan) and David Boreanaz (plays Agent Seeley Booth) are just great.

I watch shows like when I am not working at the flower shop in town. I also spend those days trying to stay cool:

I stole borrowed my mom's "mom shorts" and hiked up the hem, while wearing my 90's tie shirt from our little town's thrift store called 'The Golden Pot'. Or something like that.

Hair-cutting

I have been slowly starting to realize that I don't think I'll mind not having a 3 month summer vacation every year. I am busy (ish) with my last ever English class (yahoo!) and helping with a local floral shop's website and social networking sites- look at me being tech savvy. Still, I kind of just want to go back to Tech and Lubbock.

Basically the only exciting thing I've done so far is get a hair cut with N. Behold!

After:
It was just a trim but now my sister won't touch my ends and say "Ew! It feels like straw". I'm also getting used to switching my parts. N went as well.

N's "summer cut". He has actually been using product to tame it and slick it over to the side a bit more.
He has been inspired by Fifa and his new man crush. Behold!
I'm not complaining.                                                                                                    Photo Courtesy Of: the17thman

Oh summer.

Hats Off to Houston

Dear A,
Why must we go to school 10 hours apart? You know that most people who go to colleges that far away from each other live in different states? Oh Texas.
A is one of my only friends from high school. The sad part is we became friends the second semester  of my Junior/Senior year. Now she is an art major (right?) at a school in Houston. She is way talented and funny and looks very glamorous in her pink fedora.

We found the vintage hats in one of our antique stores downtown. They were only $6, but I passed. We spent the rest of the day watching the county fair's parade, eating snow cones, going to the rodeo, "aw-ing" over little 5 year old cowboys showing off their goats, and eating funnel cakes.

I love having such a good friend!

Always,
Hannah

P.S.
Here's one to scare you Dad ;)

Colorado, Part Dos

The rest of the Colorado four day mini-vacation was spent with friends and family. We went to the Denver aquarium with Dad's best friend from high school, his wife, and their three boys, unfortunately I didn't get a picture of all of them.
Mom and Caitlin made a new friend and we got tattoos (a mermaid for me!). The next two pictures show some of the cousins, and the aunts and uncles there to support my dad and my cousin Mikey and his girlfriend, because they ran as well.

The last picture shows Mom and my littlest cousin, Kaia, when we took her to get ice cream. They were very into their conversation, and sweet Kaia was playing with Mom's hair the entire time. Really cute!

We had so much fun. I'm glad I got to go :)

Bolder Boulder!

I might have mentioned how my family was going to Colorado on a little vacation. We got to spend some time with two of my dad's brothers (he's the youngest of four boys!) The trip was about relaxing, but it was really about this:
The Bolder Boulder! It is a 10k run around the lovely city of Boulder, Colorado and into the University of Colorado's stadium. This run had 54,000 participants, one of which was my father.
That is my 46 year old father (in the white shirt closest to the KBCO sign about 5 steps from the finish line) running this race. He has been training for a year, running three mornings a week before work. He kicked butt. He never ran long distance before. He even lost 20 pounds. I think he placed like 15,000th. How cool right?!
After the race with his celebratory free beer ;) He ran the whole 6.2-ish miles in 61 minutes.

My dad is the toughest, smartest, most generous man I know.
I love him so much and I am happy that he was able to do this, and that we were all there to support him. I'm proud of you Dad!

Drive-In Date

It seems like N has virtually disappeared from my life, no? No. We just happen to live 15 minutes apart now due to our parents' darn rent houses. We finally took a little time to go on a date before I left for Colorado and he to Arkansas.

While I was waiting, I rounded up my sister to take some shots/blow some time.

N and I were going to the drive-in so I tried to be a little classic-Americana-country because that's what fits in for a drive-in right?

But basically Caiter and I were just goofing around with our rustic background rent house property: bathtub included.

Shirt: American Eagle, Shorts: Cut off by me, Belt: thrifted $3.00!!, Boots: Cavenders Boot City

Then N showed up and I forced him to get in a shot. He has his hand wrapped up because he got a 2nd degree (and some first degree) burns. He was cleaning windows on a roof, lost his balance, the ladder moved so he had to hang on until his friend rescued him. :(

We saw the new Robin Hood. We both liked it, but were almost falling asleep due to the fact that it didn't start until 11:30-ish. What they say about college kids being night owls apparently doesn't apply to us.

Always,
Hannah
