Thankful

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving! I obviously would rather spend a whole relaxing weekend at home doing absolutely nothing, including blogging, so I am catching up.

I wanted to share what I am most thankful for:

My family:

Mom and I. See any resemblance?

Dad, Mom, and I at my birthday dinner last year (17).
Wow I look different already.

When Dad took me to Seattle with him! We were both extremely tired. We're on the L train (I think) and going through Settle at night. It looked like Gotham.

Me, my sister, and my nephew Sam

My niece cheesin it up

My brother and sister-in-law

They are all my greatest friends and the people I love being with the most.

2.My boyfriend, N
(I know most of you reading my blog know who N is but since he does not have a blog sharing his life story for the whole world to see, I will keep his name to myself. Lol)

We've obviously been dating a long time ;D

Our first prom. I still love that blue dress.

 He is pretty fun

And my best friend!

That is what I am thankful for!

Wish me luck on finals week!

Always,
Hannah

Hurling and Twirling

It was Preview Day today at Austin College. That means there were lots of excited seniors that were skipping a day of school to come view such a pretty, dynamic, academically-challenging, diverse school. Or that's what they think. The sad truth is the recruitment people at AC are very deceiving. Yes, it is academically challenging. Yes, it is diverse, and dynamic, and pretty. But it is so much less than that. Since I enjoy make lists of things I will make one about the negatives of AC.

3 Reasons Why Austin College Makes Me Want to Hurl:

3. There is nothing to do except study. And by study I mean an average of 6 hours per day at least 5 days a week, and that is with no procrastination. I am also not exaggerating. Plus I haven't even chosen a major yet. This is still undergraduate stuff. Grr.

2. Since there is nothing to do except study, everyone drinks. I can hear you all now "Well Hannah that is what college is." "No matter where you go there will be kids drinking." Gee thanks annoying protective grandparents! ;D I know all of these things, so do not tell me. Please and thank you. The problem is that 80% of people party. Partying at Austin College does not entail a couple of beers or a few shots and a lot of dancing. It includes completely trashed students. All before midnight. I can't even describe it. It is just awful. Everyone who doesn't party goes home on the weekends. They all try to pretend they like it here, but they don't.

1.  There is "respect for diversity" here. Otherwise known as: "as long as you belong to a minority, are not straight, have extremely leftist beliefs, and believe in anything but Christianity" you are completely accepted. I, however, am not accepted by the students. They do not understand why I choose not to drink before I am 21. They laugh at my faith, and scoff at the beliefs of Christians. In class if anything bad or negative in society is talked about, Christians get tied in somehow and receive the blame in someway. Once again, no exaggeration.

So pretty much I can not do anything fun here because everyone gets trashed so they can drown their study anxiety and depression, caused by AC, in alcohol. I can never relax or have fun or enjoy any exciting college experiences.

I said my piece, so now I am done. :)

I found my tutu at last!!

It was hard avoiding all the tour groups to get a picture!

I was laughing after twirling too much. It is hard finding an outfit to wear since Texas weather is crazy! The tights and cardigan got a little too warm for a few hours this afternoon, but I really liked my outfit today.

This is my thigh high socks from my last post that wouldn't load. It was a good cozy relaxing outfit that was also good for crazy Texas weather.

Two more days until I get to go home for Thanksgiving!

Hannah

It Must Be Love

Do you ever get the feeling that you and God have some pretty good inside jokes together? I do. Whenever I am feeling sad or upset God seems to say "Hey look! Life is actually pretty funny!". Like today when I was driving back from a day of shopping and magazine reading, I started to feel sadder as I got closer to campus. Then all of the sudden Alan Jackson's "It Must Be Love" came on. God knows I need some good ol' twang to sing along to. I get goofy singing to upbeat country and it was very comforting! Thanks God!

It (also) must be love whenever I go to target. A dusty pink/beige tutu, a forest green skirt, perfect layering black turtle neck, and missoni-esque print sweater dress. Ahh...retail therapy! I also saw a lot of really cute thigh high socks. I think they add just the right amount of girly and cozy. But I can't find them online grr...

And my picture of my outfit today won't load either.

This post officially failed. Haha.

Blue Friday

TGIF. But really I feel more like PHUS (Please Hurry Up Sunday) because that is when I get to meet my lovely parents and sister-in-law at IKEA. And who doesn't love IKEA? And their families?

I had a long day. It started off with this morning. I am a college kid therefore I do not wash my hair as frequently as a should. To disguise the grossness (Yes, I am in college) of my strands, I usually wear a headband. I bought this one a few weeks ago from Forever 21 and wore it today:

I received a lot of compliments on it but I'm not sure how many of them legitimately like it, or they noticed I saw them staring at the huge plaid-ness of it and were obliged to compliment it. My French professor however told me she liked it so I think that makes it acceptable.

On my way back from lunch I stopped to take a few pictures. I'm still getting used to the self timer and how to set it up so I can get a head to toe shot, but it turned out okay. I'm on the phone with N (my busy schedule requires multi-tasking :D ). I look a bit silly.

I sorta like how the outfit turned out. The tights are a lot lighter in person- from Gap & gray with a bit of a pattern. I wanted to wear a belt but I ran out of time getting ready this morning. The pig tails and huge bow make me look "cute" but every once in a while that is a good thing.

Allllllllllllll that to say: I think I disguised my two day greasy hair quite well. Don't you think?

I'm still deciding on whether or not to go to a "blue out" party in 30 minutes. We wear all blue and dance and pretend finals aren't two weeks away. Too bad it's raining because the party is within walking distance, but I don't really want to drive there either. Decisions. Decisions.

Hannah

Outfit Propsal

Am I crazy for starting a blog two weeks before my very first college finals? Maybe a tad. I had such a busy day that I forgot to take a picture of my proposal outfit. Yes, you read me right. I said proposal outfit. And no, long term boyfriend N did not propose.

For my Intro to Psych class we were assigned to groups to create commercials using different types of persuasion techniques. We chose to advertise diamonds (I suggested the name "DeVeers". I fancy myself a little punny.) so I had to dress up in a floaty gray dress and big blue patent peep toes. The commercial turned out wonderfully corny, and I was so glad we got it done quickly. Group projects are usually the pits because I always have to pick up the slack. Not so this time!

So since I forgot to take any pictures of my own outfit, I thought I would make a outfit I would love to wear all through this holiday season. Good thing I found this wonderful site where you can search through tons of online clothes by style, fabric, color, price, etc. I think it turned out great! A little sparkle in the dress and bracelets, a little grunge in the lace up boots and slouchy sweater, and a little luxe in the (faux) fur clutch. What do you think?

Oh! And how wonderful is it that it automatically includes the prices?

I am so glad that the week is almost done. Six days until Thanksgiving break then only two weeks after that until Christmas break! I always wondered why colleges got out so early when I was in high school, but now I understand. College kids would die. Already I walk through campus and see people shaking with stress (or maybe they're just stumbling from still being hungover?). Either way if college kids did not have such a long break no one would ever graduate. *deep breaths* I can make it. I can make it. I can make it.

Now off to study.

Always, Hannah.

Hello Blog World.

I have been thinking about starting a blog for a little while now but I couldn't figure out what I would write about. I still don't know what I'm writing about, but I figured why not.  Plus a couple people have suggested I write one (I expect comments Caitlin and Autumn!)

So here is what I plan to blog about:

1) College.
-I'm at Austin College right now. Austin College is not in Austin. It is in Sherman. Sherman is in Grayson County which has the highest cocaine making count of any county in Texas (or so I've heard). I'm pretty sure this has a direct correlation to the ridiculousness that is Austin College and it's students. Austin College is not for me. So I am transferring at semester to:
- Texas Tech in Lubbock. Who would have thought that I would like a huge public university? But I visited and fell in love. I'm nervous about what classes to take and how I'm going to adapt. But I'm also excited to get a real college experience, with friends, sporting events, nights out, and maybe a little more time for life in general.

2) All of those things listed above:
-Friends. All the fun times we have together. Living life.
-Sporting events. All the big sports that I can cheer on! And maybe even intramurals?
-Nights out. I'll turn 18 soon and I intend to go dancing. A lot.
            -Life in general.

3) Creativity:
            - I'm going to learn how to sew. And do DIY's. I have become obsessed with fashion blogs like lovemaegan. They are inspiring. I would like to at least be able to become creative in something. Christmas break is when I'm going to start.

4) My Father
           - God gave us a wonderful world and His grace and love is what I hope to learn to emulate. I hope through my imperfect life I can lead others to His perfect salvation. And show the world how to have some good ol' Godly fun!

Here's to big changes, exciting times, and attempting to write!

Always,
Hannah
