Happy Thursday

Happenings as of late:

N makes his now secret "Knock Off Chuy's (But Way Better) Jalapeno Ranch Dip" about once a week. My coworkers raved about it when I brought it to work and I'm fairly sure my boss might fire me if I don't share the recipe.

N's roommates A and K make me dinner fairly frequently. Probably because I hang out at their apartment all of the time. And because I know their secrets. Plus I give better girl woman advice than all 3 of them put together. I also might me setting up A with my friend B from work. Any suggestions for non awkward double date activities?
I also took a break from all of my studying (midterms already? crazy!) to go see Randy Rogers Band play at Wild West. The tickets were N's birthday present to me. That is A in the upper left hand corner and my friend from Interior Design, E, in the bottom right hand corner. We had so much fun, drunken crazies bothering us and all.
In case you're curious here he is live singing "Buy Myself a Chance"

And a recording of "Steal You Away".

I'm going to make all of you Texas country fans yet.

Always,
Hannah

P.S.
I am doing a brand analysis project about Kate Spade New York and I need people to fill out a short questionnaire. If you would feel so inclined to help me out you could leave your answers in a comment. Thanks!

Snowy Superbowl

So who's playing today? Just kidding. I'll have to call my dad later to ask who I'm rooting for. That's what I usually do. N and I have been invited to a coworker's party tonight, but right now I'm just laying in bed watching Bones and looking at the huge snowflakes falling outside my window. I haven't had a Sunday off for a while and it is so nice to cozy up in my bed and study for a test tomorrow. It is my first one this semester. It is so crazy to think that 2 1/2 months of school left. Spring semester just flies by.

I hope you all have a fun Super Bowl Sunday. Go play in the snow!

N and I had a snowball fight, made snow angels, threw me onto a pile of snow, and ran around crazily with me on top of his shoulders. Oh and we made a heart with our initials like usual:
N and I on a snow day (and his 17th birthday!)  January 17, 2007. Do we look like babies? I think I look the same.

Hannah

Cold In

It is cold here in Lubbock today (just like everywhere else I'm sure). Snow and ice everywhere and wind chills in the -10s. Was school canceled? No. I braved the bone breaking cold to attend two classes. One of which the "Gonedoughla" professor showed us a demonstration of how one "picks their colors" ala the fad from the 1980s.
http://www.dittoandco.com/blog/
It was definitely worth getting out of bed.

Luckily class is over and I don't work today. I am already close to finishing my homework for Friday and warm cheesy pizza is being delivered to my apartment right now. N had to go home this week to work on some college stuff and he is driving back here now. He might have to stop and stay in a town halfway here if the roads don't get better.

I wish N was here to play in the snow with me. He is my favorite. Want to know why he is so cool?

1. He got a promotion at work (from a busboy to a waiter) and has been training. The other day at work he was waiting on two ladies in their 50s. They were having a good time, knocking down a few margaritas (like 10) and they were teasing N the whole time. As they finished their meal N asked the obligatory "Would you like dessert? Sopapillas or cheesecake maybe?" and one of the ladies responds with "You know what kind of dessert I want." (!!!) But N responds with "I'm just not sure what you mean ma'am", winks, and walks away. Needless to say, he received about a $50 tip. He makes me laugh so hard.

2. The other day N was driving and a man cut him off. At the stoplight the man gets out of his car and angrily starts walking towards N and his car. So what does N do? Make a U turn and drive away? No. He gets out of his car and says "I think you best get back in your car." So the man turns around and drives instead of bashing N or his car in.

Charming and a bad ass.

Stupid Things College Kids (and Professors) Say

I've been back at school for a few weeks now and since I've started my Retail classes I've heard quite a few doozies.

In my Retail Promotion class we were discussing our display boxes we were making:

Professor- "Now all of the objects that are in the display should have a similar function."
Girl with bed hair and Northface fleece jacket- "Um excuse me but what exactly do you mean by 'function' "?

I think she should catch up on a classic. "Conjuction junction, what's your function?"
To be fair though, that same professor was explaining the differences between clothing fixtures used on selling floors. She kept talking about large shelving units that are usually bolted down to the floor and used in places like Home Depot and grocery stores. Her pronunciation was throwing everyone off. So I raise my hand and ask, with a straight face, "What exactly do you mean by 'gone-dough-la' and how do you spell it?"
"Well it's spelled g-o-n-d-o-l-a. You know like those boats in Italy."

Sometimes life seems funnier and stupider (ha!) with a southern accent y'all.

Gonedoughla example.

Have a blessed Sunday tomorrow.

Hannah

Birthday Delays

I've been a little slow on the posting because I've been busy getting adjusted to my new schedule this semester. Also because N celebrated his 21st birthday. His roommates took him out to a local bar and played pool and exercised his new right to purchase. Then it was my 19th birthday a week later. My mom came up to Lubbock this weekend to celebrate. She bought my groceries, and all my meals, and my gas, and still bought me a present.
These Cole Haan beauties. They are so comfortable and shiny red. Even though you can't tell from the picture.

We had so much fun together and I always get a little sad when she leaves. So thanks Mom! Oh and they bought N a soccer ball for his birthday so he can practice his skillz ;)

Always,
Hannah

P.S.
That's Mattie my sweet scruffy dog.

Weekly Wrap Up

I've been trying to figure out my schedule this week. Every time I start something new I always tell N, "I just want it be 2 or 3 weeks from now and then I'll have everything figured out." Now, I'm just trying to teach myself to be happy with where I am right now.

My least favorite moments of the week:
1) Realizing I dropped the wrong class a few weeks ago, and having to drop a new one.
2) Schedule change making me change my hours at work. No more free Thursdays.
3) Jumping in my friend's car and sitting in the seat where she dumped water. See picture above.
4) Working all weekend and pulling a muscle in my foot from standing/walking so much.

My favorite moments of the week:
1) Looking online to add a class and realizing that the only one left that I need to take this semester has one open spot left. Hallelujah!
2) I made some new friends this week. At school and at work. They are girls too.
3) Receiving my first paycheck from David's Bridal.
4) Getting to see women pick out the dress they are going to wear on the happiest day of their lives. No matter how much work this is, it is so sweet.

Favorite (or least) moments of your week?

Hannah

Working Girl

So in case you didn't hear I got the job at David's Bridal. I carry dresses back and forth and make sure rooms are clean and open. It is crazy busy on the weekends and we have ladies lining up on the weekends to try on dresses in one of our 13 rooms. I did not stop running and my shoulder muscles are really sore for perhaps the first time ever.

David's has a fairly strict dress code. Dress slacks and skirts must be paired with a jacket. Weirdly, dresses only have to be around knee length  and have sleeves, or we can wear cardigans. In order to be professional N and I went to Savers so I could find a pair of black slacks. Banana Republic for $7!

Blazer: Target, Shirt: Tucker for Target, Pants: thrifted Banana Republic, Flats: olddddd from DSW
I also used part of my birthday gift card to Target from my god parents to buy this blazer and it is great. Thanks Jennifer and Kale! Please excuse my red face. It was my first day and man was I nervous.

Right now I'm cuddled up in my bed hiding from the cold wind, then I'm off to Zumba later.

Always,
Hannah
