All I Want

This Thanksgiving break my dad's parents hosted Thanksgiving and invited my Dad and his 3 older brothers and their families to South Dakota to all stay in a little lodge together. There were about 30 of us all together. It has been a really really really long time since we've even been close to having all of the cousins together. I think since I was 7? 11 years ago? Crazy.

It was very fun. And COLD. It was 75 degrees in Lubbock when I took off, and 11 degrees in Sioux Falls when I landed.

Now I'm just tired, I don't have any pictures yet, and I have 5 cold sores on my bottom lip. And finals week is coming up. So I'm going to cheer myself up by creating a short little wish list. Just to indulge myself.

I Would Just Like To Say

Could I please just be Emma Watson?

 

I love her new hair. And how beautiful she looked at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 London premiere. 

I would love even more to just travel back 10 years so I could be Hermione. I'll even settle for being Ginny. I'd be a great red-head.

Obviously I just saw HP7 and it was amazing. N has been watching the rest of the movies non-stop. And I've actually been re-reading book 7. From an actual book. With pages. For fun. In college. Yep.

My camera is actually a little broken right now (it is being fixed), so no pictures of the decorations that have been added in the apartment, or N's roommate K turning 21 (all clean pictures. we had dinner with his family).

I also leave for thanksgiving in South Dakota with my whole family on Wednesday. The high is 13. Degrees Fahrenheit. How does one dress for that?

Ooooooklahoma

This past weekend N and I visited his sister, Autumn, brother in law, Josh, and niece, Ava, in Norman, Oklahoma. It was fun to get a little weekend break from work. OU was beautiful and we had a lot of fun. Some highlights of the trip include, but aren't limited to:

1) Meeting the Allstate Insurance guy's (Dennis Haysbert) cousin or brother in the grocery store. They have the same voice. I nearly swooned with auditory happiness. 
2) Eating cupcakes at Sara Sara Cupcakes.
3)Touring the law school. Including the mock Supreme Court!
4)Watching Autumn get her ear pierced. Yes. Just the one.
5) Lots of playing.
6) Even a family photo shoot by the talented Amanda Pate.
7) Eating homemade buffalo chili. Yum!
8) Realizing that some day I might be out of school and start to have part of a life.

It was so much fun. Thanks Josh and Autumn!

The only problem was that we had a flat tire that had to get patched, then replaced with a new tire, so we didn't leave until 6 and the sun was setting. About the 4th hour of our 6 hour drive back, N got sick. I had to keep pulling over for him to ralph (nicer way to say it?). Poor kid. We didn't get back until 1:30 and I had to wake up for an 8 a.m. class. Oh college...

I'm busy tonight, but I wanted to get a quick post up. I actually wore this outfit a few weeks ago when my sister was here. Very comfortable. And look how clean my room and bathroom are. Wowie!

I also want to do a quick shout out to N's sister Autumn for redoing my header and setting up my background for me. Doesn't it look fantastic? I dislike doing stuff like that (at least the logistics part) so I really appreciate her help. N and I actually visited them this weekend, but I want to do right by that post. I want to get a ring on its finger take the time to fully write it and post all the pictures. Tomorrow hopefully?

Off to study for Intro to Interiors. Who wants to memorize 50 pages of furniture types with me? No takers. Figures.

Stupid Things (Returning) College Kids Say

I'm taking  Partnering: The Development of Intimate Relationships to fulfill a specific Humanities credit (cause you know they wouldn't accept my Anthropology or Psych 101. That would be too easy.), and it is sort of ridiculous. Our discussions center around dating, marriage, and sex. I never understood relationship advice columns in magazines because it all seemed like common sense to me. "Dear Doctor Sue, My husband and I have not been getting along lately. I feel insignificant and all he wants to do is watch television. What should I do?  Sincerely, Lonely Louise" Uhm really? Tell him how you feel and suggest doing something specific together. Common sense. I always thought the people writing in were phony. Nope. Turns out they're all in this class.

There is this lovely 40+ year old girl (not a woman. definitely not.) who has a Minnie Mouse voice and wears rhinestone studded velour sweatsuits, and I doubt her wrinkles aren't filled. I feel bad for her because she tries, but she is just one of those girls that seems to have not grown past high school. She is the subject of STCKS (Stupid Things College Kids Say):


Professor (talking about reward)-"...say I buy my partner a new Harley"

40+ Woman- "Can I date you?"

*Awkward Silence*

Vintage Indian Princess

I bought some amazing Vintage BlueBells from EmersonMade. They are 100% cotton. No distressing. High-waisted and beautiful. These photos don't do them justice.

 I need to get some better photos though. Shirt and Vest are thrifted. :) My co-worker visited her sister in Colorado and when she came back she had feather extensions in her hair. I loved it. Luckily, she wanted to try it out on someone else. Hence:

Some people think they are earrings until they look closely. I really love them. As N said "makes you look like an Indian princess".

I've Got Another Puzzle For You

Just some of the comments made when I wore these tights. I think I scared most of the kids on campus. Oh and that last comment was made by N. He said he liked them though.

Today I went thrifting (no luck), ate a spicy chicken sandwich from Chic-Fil-A, and spent time with N. Now, I'm skipping the football game (yahoo!) and listening to This American Life while I blog and make dinner. Good day!
